Determination of Anatomical Variation of Mental Foramen and Evaluation of Anterior Loop in Karachi Population Using CBCT

Aim: To determine the anatomical variation in mental foramen and to evaluate anterior loop population of Karachi with use cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Study Design: Prospective Place duration: Department Dental Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan Institute Oral Health Sciences Dow University during September 2021 February 2022. Methodology: A group 160 subjects were included this study simple convenient sampling technique was used obtain data for research. CBCT images all patients obtained. Results: scans obtained study, 76 females remaining 84 males. Mental present below second premolar between first premolars most commonly, respectively. On right side 67.5% 68.1% on left. The common shape Type-I, where Anterior Loop (AL) is unnoticeable anatomy Y shaped as classified by solar et al. AL more commonly left 65% compared which 59.4%. No correlation found presentation incisive canal mandibular region according Shapiro Wilk normality test (P≥0.05). Conclusion: It evident that location variable our population. Therefore it mandated should be before any invasive procedure undertaken MF region. Keywords: Anatomical variation, foramen, loop, Nerve, Cone Beam Computed Tomography
